Habanero (pronounced "hah-ba-nerro" meaning “someone or something from Havana”) Capsicum chinense, are one of the hottest chiles you can find, added to the Guinness Book of World Records in 1999 as the hottest pepper. Incorrectly named by a physician, who was collecting plants for Emperor Francis I, and mistakenly believed the chiles were from China. These chiles had their start in the Caribbean or South American regions of the world. Excellent spicy and fruity flavor in barbecue sauces, condiments, red sauces, salsas, meat rubs, chicken wing sauces, all kinds of meat marinades, and seafood.
