Pronounced "pah/EH/yah", Paella is a rice dish that was created in its modern form in the mid-19th century in Valencia a town on the eastern coast of Spain. Many food enthusiasts around the globe view paella as the national dish of Spain. Most Spaniards consider it to be a regional Valencian dish.
